The role of the Quantitative Associate Editors will be to assist the Co-Editors with all aspects of the journal, including but not limited to, identifying prospective authors and encouraging high-quality submissions, identifying and recruiting additional skilled and competent reviewers—especially for quantitative submissions—and developing thoughtful, respectful, and timely decision letters on new manuscripts as well as on previously submitted and revised manuscripts that employ quantitative research methods. Associate Editors may also be asked to write editorials or other thought pieces in support of the journal and will be expected to promote the journal at national and international conference venues and other events by serving as exemplary ambassadors of the journal. Associate Editors are required to participate in conference calls among the editorial team and to attend (if possible) the Editorial Board meeting held at the Academy of Human Resource Development Conference in the Americas, as well as other editorial team meetings and events scheduled at the conference that promote and support the journal.

The appointment to the Associate Editor position is a three-year term aligned with the Co-Editors’ term (2025–2027). Associate Editors may be invited to serve a second (but not to exceed a second) term and are also eligible for consideration for the next Incoming Editor position as part of the journal’s succession plan. New Associate Editors will begin their roles as soon as appointments are finalized, with onboarding and training to begin immediately upon selection. It is anticipated that applicants currently hold a tenured or tenure-line faculty position at a research university. Applicants should possess a notable record of scholarly publications involving quantitative methods within the Human Resource Development community or related fields of study (e.g., Management; I-O Psychology; Public Administration). Candidates should demonstrate prior experience with diverse quantitative methodologies, possess departmental support to serve in the role, and have a record of service as a reviewer and/or track chair, special issue editor, or editorial board member of one or more major journals. A demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion, interest in advancing the journal’s global reach, and openness to varied methodological perspectives within quantitative research are preferred.

Self-nominations are encouraged and should include a letter that fully describes the candidate’s capability, experience, and commitment to serve in an Associate Editor role based on the position requirements, as well as a full curriculum vitae. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis beginning April 23, 2025, and will be accepted until the positions are filled. Please submit all materials to Co-Editor Sewon Kim at: sewon.kim@sunyempire.edu

Introduction:
This special issue of New Horizons in Adult Education and Human Resource Development calls for scholarly works that delve into diverse methods of empowering women of color. The oppression experienced by women of color is
qualitatively distinct, leading to complex challenges that intersect at personal, professional, and societal levels, thus necessitating focused and deliberate attention (Juan, 2016; Williams, 2014). Despite a rapidly expanding
literature and numerous efforts aimed at addressing these issues, significant challenges persist. This underscores the need for more diverse and innovative research to grasp the complex, intersectional nature of these experiences
(Sims, 2022; Sims & Carter, 2022; Sim & Jeong, 2023). We encourage scholars to extend the discourse beyond traditional narratives, embracing studies that challenge established paradigms, introduce innovative methodologies
and interventions, and highlight underexplored contexts and identities (Choo & Ferree, 2010; McCall, 2005; Sim & Jeong, 2023). Such contributions are vital for empowering women of color.

Submissions may explore, but are not limited to, the following themes:

Interventions for empowering women of color, including policies and strategies, and their effectiveness (e.g., coaching, mentoring, leadership development).

In-depth explorations into the experiences of women of color across various contexts and focusing on diverse aspects (e.g., different ethnic/racial groups, women of color with an additional marginalized identity).

Comparative studies across cultures, geographies, and systemic structures.

Theoretical advancements that enhance our understanding of the experiences of women of color.

Studies employing transformative, pragmatic, or post-modernist research paradigms.

We welcome contributions from a wide range of disciplines and perspectives to foster a comprehensive and diverse dialogue. This initiative presents an opportunity to expand the research horizon on women of color, challenging the existing
status quo and laying the groundwork for new insights and understandings.
