Seung Won Yoon, President, 2024-2026 Texas A&M University Dr. Seung Won Yoon is an Professor of Human Resource Development and HR/People Analytics at Texas A&M University. Dr. Yoon has about 70 publications, which include 50 peer-reviewed journal articles (many of them in leading
HRD journals), 12 book chapters, and 4 invited editorials. He co-edited two journal special issues (one on team learning and the other on HRD in South Korea) and co-authored 2 books in Korean (one on big data for education and
learning, the other on people analytics) and co-edited one book. Dr. Yoon has been an active member in AHRD since 2003 and has served the Academy in a variety of roles including a SIG co-chair, conference track chair, and the AHRD Board of Director (2012~2015). He is the recipient of the Elwood
F. Horton III Research Excellence Award (2021) and ten AHRD’s Cutting Edge Awards; 2022 winner of the Texas A&M University-Commerce Distinguished Scholarship Award, 2020 Best HRDR reviewer award; 2021 Wayne Pace Book of the
Year Award; 2014 winner of the Western Illinois University Teaching with Technology Award, 2012 winner of the WIU’s Research/Scholarship Award. He served as an associate editor of the Human Resource Quarterly for two terms (2015~2022) and currently serves on the editorial boards of Human Resource Development Quarterly, Human Resource Development Review, and Advances in Developing
Human Resources. Dr. Seung Won Yoon received his BA in English Language & Literature from Sung Kyun Kwan University, Seoul Korea, MA in Teaching English as a Second Language (1998) and Ph.D. in Human Resource Education from the University of Illinois
(2003).
He worked as an IT manager from 1998 until 2003. Dr. Yoon’s scholarship and professional work focus on enhancing workplace behaviors and organizational performance by better aligning leadership, learning/knowledge sharing, teams/collaboration,
and technologies/data analytics. Joshua Collins, President-Elect, 2024-2026 University of Minnesota Dr. Joshua C. Collins is an Associate Professor of HRD and Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. Dr. Collins’ research
emphasizes systems of Critical HRD and how those systems can help to address organizational and social (in)justice through examinations of LGBTQ+ issues, intersectionality, social movement learning, and workplace diversity, equity,
and inclusion (DEI). Dr. Collins’ work appears in scholarly journals central to the study of HRD, including HRDR, HRDI, and ADHR. Dr. Collins is the co-editor of the first Handbook of Critical
HRD, in-press and scheduled for publication by Palgrave in December 2022. Dr. Collins is a current Editorial Board member for HRDR and ADHR and has been a member of AHRD since 2011. Prior to serving on AHRD’s
Board of Directors, Dr. Collins held many leadership roles within the academy including award chair for multiple awards, SIG chair, serving on the conference planning team, and conference manuscript track co-editor. Khalil Dirani, Past President, 2022-2024 Texas A&M University Dr. Khalil M. Dirani is Professor and Program Chair of the Educational Human Resource Development (EHRD) program at Texas A&M University. He also serves as President-elect for the Academy of Human Resource
Development (AHRD).
His research is situated in the domain of international Human resource development with a focus on integrating theory and practice from various lenses, including learning culture, leadership and talent development;
workplace engagement; and transfer of learning at the individual, organizational, national, and international levels. His research has evolved from a focus on training and learning in the workplace to conceptualizing HRD as a strategic
framework for interdisciplinary collaboration and engagement within teams, networks, and systems. He continues to grow and deepen his engagement with this line of research through co-creating and sharing knowledge across teams
and organizations, as well as systems of learning. He is currently involved in two Interdisciplinary research and collaborative work can address complex problems that face organizations and communities, including social, health,
and environmental challenges. Khalil has published 30 research articles in leading HRD journals (e.g., The Learning Organization, Advances in Developing Human Resources, HRD International). In addition, he published2
edited refereed journal issues, 3 edited books, 10 refereed book chapters, 7 research reports, and more than 80 refereed conference articles and abstracts. Dr. Dirani continues to seek funding and research on the applicability
of LO in interdisciplinary contexts, and focus on understanding factors that foster learning cultures, workplace engagement, and knowledge creation and sharing in collaborative networks and interdisciplinary teams. She has published research studies on reverse mentoring, multigenerational workforce, employee engagement, work-life balance, and women leadership in various national and
international journals of repute including MIT Sloan Review, Management Learning, Human Resource Development Quarterly, Human Resource Development Review, Human Resource Development International, and others. Her excellence in
research has been recognized by the Elwood F. Holton, III Research Excellence Award for ‘Best Journal Article’ by the Academy of Human Resource Development (AHRD) for her article on reverse mentoring. Her work has been quoted by
leading media outlets including Built-In, the Financial Times, the Washington Post, Forbes, Dow Jones, Wall Street Journal, Canadian Broadcasting, Star Tribune, and HR Magazine. Organizations for consulting frequently invite her
to present her research, including the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong, Durham University UK, University of Delaware, Tata Steel, India, Minnesota Organization Development Network, Twin Cities Peer Network, and St. Catherine
University, among others. She is the immediate past- chairperson for the India HRD Special Interest Group (SIG) at AHRD and currently serves as an editorial board member of Human Resource Development Review and Human Resource Development International.
Thomas Garavan, Board Member University College Cork Dr. Thomas Garavan is a professor of Leadership Practice at the Cork University Business School at University College Cork (Ireland). Dr. Garavan completed a Bachelor and Master of Business Studies (University of Limerick) and an Ed.
D in Work Psychology (University of Bristol). Dr. Garavan’s involvement with the Academy of Human Resource Development started with the Annual Conference in the Americas in Austin Texas 2004. Dr. Garavan was also the co-chair of
the 2014UFHRD/AHRD conference in Edinburgh. Dr. Garavan was elected to the Academy of HRD Board in 2005 one of the first non-USA members, and then again in 2017. During this second period on the Board, Dr. Garavan took on a leadership
role around research and journals. Dr. Garavan was fortunate to win the Outstanding HRD Scholar Award in 2013 and was elected to the HRD Scholar Hall of Fame. Dr. Garavan has remained steadfast in their commitment to HRD research.
Eunjung Grace Oh, Board Member University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Eunjung Grace Oh is an associate professor of HRD in the Department of Education Policy, Organization and Leadership at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). Prior to joining the UIUC faculty, she had years of professional
experience in higher education and corporations as an HRD specialist, instructional designer, instructor, and consultant. In her scholarship, Grace explores the effective design and integration of learning and technological innovations
for adult learners to support their learning, performance, and career development. She is particularly interested in understanding and supporting learning, teaching, and design in various online and technology-enriched and -enhanced
environments to facilitate meaningful learning and engagement. Regarding service to professional societies, she serves as the Featured Research Coordinator and President of the Research and Theory Division, and a member of the
Executive Officers Nominating Committee in the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT). She is a member of the Editorial Board of Journal of Computing in Higher Education, and reviews manuscripts from various
journals including Human Resource Development Review, and Educational Technology Research and Development. In AHRD, she served as an Associate Track Chair (2016-2017) and Track Chair (2017-2019) for the Technology, E-Learning and
VHRD Track. She is also a Board Member of the Korean Academy of Human Resource Development in the Americas. Her work is well-recognized with multiple awards including the 2020 Cutting Edge Award from AHRD, 2017 Outstanding Assistant
Professor Award from the University Council for Workforce and Human Resource Education, 2019 Journal Article Award and 2021 Outstanding Service Award from AECT, and 2017 Lifelong Teaching Award from UIUC.
Caleb Han, Board Member University of Georgia Dr. Caleb Seung-hyun Han is an Associate Professor of Learning, Leadership and Organization Development at the University of Georgia (UGA). Dr. Han holds bachelors’ degrees in Business Administration and Laws. He received his master’s
degree in Human Resource Management from the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Human Resource Development from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Before joining
UGA, he was a faculty member at Central State University and Wright State University. Also, he worked at Samsung Economic Research Institute (SERI) and Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance. He fulfilled his military duty as a Training
and Doctrine specialist in the ROKA 12th Infantry Division Headquarters. Dr. Han served as the President of the Korean Academy of Human Resource Development in Americas, and chair of Korea-SIG and Site Host of the 2020 AHRD international
conference in Atlanta.
Claretha Hughes, Board Member University of Arkansas Claretha Hughes, Ph.D. Professor is a native of Lake City, SC who teaches Human Resource Development at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She has over 33 years of extensive professional experience in business and
industry and continues to serve as a consultant to international, national, and state organizations. Her research interests include valuing people and technology in the workplace, technology development, diversity intelligence,
learning technologies, and ethical and legal issues. She has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and books and has authored or co-authored 16 books. She is a book proposal reviewer for SAGE, Emerald, IGI Global,
and Palgrave Macmillan. She has completed a National Science Foundation Research in Formation of Engineers grant as a Co-PI. She is the 2021 recipient of the Academy of Human Resource Development’s FORWARD Award, and the 2009 University
Council of Workforce and Human Resource Education Outstanding Assistant Professor award. Dr. Hughes has a Ph.D. in Career & Technical Education from Virginia Tech specializing in training and development, an MT degree in Textile
Technology Management from NC State University, a BA in Chemistry from Clemson University, and an MBA from the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas. She has publications in journals such as Human Resource Development Review, Advances in Developing Human Resources, New Horizons in Adult Education and Human Resource Development, Human Resource Development International,
and Career Development International.
Matthew Hurtienne, Board Member Concordia University Dr. Matthew Hurtienne is a veteran of helping organizations unleash expertise through organizational performance development. He is a seasoned and highly qualified professional who is committed to providing educational instruction
and training solutions to individuals and corporations that enhance productivity, strengthen responsiveness, improve quality, and drive sustained business performance.
As a scholar-practitioner, his diverse professional experience has been related to organizational, performance, and change. Matthew has over 20 years of experience with union-management relations, strategic planning, process improvement,
training and development, and human resources. He has had the opportunity to start up several businesses, work for non-profit and for-profit organizations, and provide educational opportunities for business and higher education. Dr. Hurtienne is a published researcher and presenter in the field of human resource development, where he continues his work at Concordia University of Wisconsin. Recently, Dr. Matthew Hurtienne co-developed and published a new leadership
model of Equity Leadership and connected the outcome to higher employer engagement. Currently, he serves as a professor of human resources and Dean for the School of Business. He also served as the inaugural program director for
Concordia's Doctor of Business Administration. His current leadership responsibility provides support and instruction to undergraduate and graduate education. Matthew currently instructs doctoral-level students in performance and
change and is part of a leadership team to develop a doctorate program in leadership, innovation, and continuous improvement. In addition to teaching in the field of human resource development, he serves as a peer reviewer for
the Academy of Human Resource Development International Conference, Asia-Pacific Journal of Business Administration, Business Economics Sustainability Leadership, and Innovations. His educational background includes a Ph.D. in Education and Human Resources with a specialization in Organizational Learning, Performance, and Change from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO. Matthew earned his master’s
Science in Organizational Leadership from Norwich University in Northfield, VT, and he has a B.S. from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. Shinhee Jeong, Board Member University of Texas-Tyler Dr. Shinhee Jeong is currently an associate professor of Adult, Professional, and Community Education at Texas State University. Before joining Texas State University, she held a faculty position in the School of Leadership and Human
Resource Development at Louisiana State University. Dr. Jeong's research interests revolve around workplace diversity and performance, training and development, organizational change, and quantitative research methodologies. She
has authored over 100 articles in multiple high-impact journals within the field of human resource development and closely related disciplines. She has also actively pursued research funding opportunities and has successfully secured
grants totaling $504,987 to date, including awards from the NSF ADVANCE and the NSF Future of Work.

Dae Seok Chai, Board Member Texas A&M University Dr. Dae Seok Chai is an Associate Professor of Human Resource Development (HRD) at Texas A&M University. Within his three research interests—expatriation effectiveness, human resource development in an international context, and leadership
in diverse cultural contexts— Dr. Chai has been a proactive and passionate researcher with multiple refereed journal articles and book chapters. The quality of his research was recognized by the Academy of Human Resource Development
(AHRD) through its Early Career Scholar Award and multiple Cutting Edge Awards. Dr. Chai has consulted various types of organizations in developing diverse types of training programs, including change management, cultural diversity,
global talent development, and leadership. Dr. Chai has been a Board of Director (2023-2026), a program chair and proceeding editor (2020-2023), and a track chair (2015-2020) for the AHRD international conference. Dr. Chai has
also served as a reviewer and an editorial board member for several human resource development and management journals
Eunbi Sim, Board Member University of Georgia Bio: Eunbi Sim is a Ph.D. student in the Learning, Leadership, and Organization Development program at the University of Georgia. Her research is focused on studying, practicing, and teaching human resource development, management,
and adult learning from a critical and intersectional feminist perspective. Her research accomplishments have been recognized by several awards, including the AHRD Cutting Edge Awards, KAHRDA Best Paper Awards, and the Rising Graduate
Student Award. She holds a bachelor's degree from Kyungpook National University and a master's degree from Seoul National University. Before pursuing her Ph.D., She worked at the Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education
and Training (KRIVET). Currently, she serves as a Graduate Student at Large for the Academy of Human Resource Development (AHRD) and the Korean AHRD in the Americas (KAHRDA) and is a steering committee member of Critical SIG and
Diversity SIG of AHRD.
Cynthia Sims, Board Member University of Georgia Cynthia M. Sims is an Assistant Professor and program coordinator of the Master of Human Resource Development, Department of Educational and Organizational Leadership, College of Education, Clemson University, Clemson, South Carolina,
U.S.A. Her research focuses on the ways gender and diversity influences the enactment of leadership in the workplace. She was recognized with an Emerald Literati Award, Highly Commended 2019 for a research publication. Dr. Sims
is the founder director and co-lead of Clemson’s gender equity leadership development and mentoring program for faculty an ADVANCE initiative. She has a doctorate in organizational leadership from the University of Maryland Eastern
Shore. Prior to her academic career, Dr. Sims was employed with a U.S. fortune 100 company, serving as the Director of Staff Operations, Director of Learning and Performance Improvement, and Director of Human Resources.
