Faculty Development Webinar: Overview, Reflections and Advice on Applying for a Fulbright Grant Award

Drs. Robin Greiner and Holly Hutchins will present their experiences in being awarded a Fulbright scholarship.

Dr. Robin Grenier, webinar speaker

Robin Grenier will discuss her experience in being awarded a grant with the core Fulbright U.S. scholar program. Her Fulbright took her to Iceland where she taught and conducted research relating to learning in, with, and from museums.

Dr. holly Hutchin, webinar speaker

Holly will discuss her experiences in being selected for a Fulbright Specialist grant in Business Administration at Edinburgh Napier University, United Kingdom. Holly used her expertise in program evaluation to explore doctoral students' experience of online learning, virtualy mentoring, and their overall satisfaction with their doctoral studies.

Participants will learn about the differences between the these two types of Fulbright scholarships. As well, participants will have the opportunity to ask Robin and Holly questions about the application process.

About the Speakers

Robin S. Grenier is an Associate Professor of Adult Learning in the Department of Educational Leadership within the Neag School of Education, at the University of Connecticut. Dr. Grenier received her Ph.D. in Adult Education, and Certificate in Qualitative Inquiry from the University of Georgia. She currently serves as an editorial board member of the Journal of Advanced Academics, and as a reviewer for a number of adult education and HRD journals. In addition to her role on the AHRD Board, she is a founding member and Co-chair of the AHRD Qualitative Inquiry SIG.

Dr. Grenier works with graduate students, faculty, and organizations as a qualitative methodologist, and conducts research, writes, and presents on museums as sources of adult learning, informal and experiential learning, and expertise redevelopment. Prior to becoming a professor she worked as a high school English teacher and a training and educational consultant for school districts and non-profit organizations.

Dr. Holly M. Hutchins is an associate professor of Human Resource Development at the University of Houston where she has taught courses in research design, program evaluation, facilitation, and leadership development. Dr. Hutchins is also the lead co-PI on a five-year NSF ADVANCE grant that focuses on increasing recruitment, retention and advancement of women STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) faculty at the University of Houston. Her primary research area is in transfer of training, but her recent work has focused on faculty development specifically in identity formation and imposter tendencies. Dr. Hutchins recently completed a Fulbright Specialist project with Edinburgh Napier University in Scotland where she explored the post-graduate programme research culture, advised on learning technologies in post-graduate supervision of remote students, and identified opportunities for student engagement.
