Description of Track: Manuscripts focused on how HRD improves performance are appropriate for this track. This track welcomes theoretical and empirical papers that provide insights into the academic and practitioner understanding of performance.

Topic areas include, but are not limited to: performance analysis at the individual, team/process, organizational, or inter-organizational/national levels; performance improvement strategies, theories, practices; performance and its relationship to various constructs including motivation, transfer of training, supervisory support, self-efficacy, etc.; high-performance workforce issues; human performance technologies, etc.

James BartlettTrack Chair Editor: Dr. James Bartlett II

James E. Bartlett, II, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor at North Carolina State University and Director of the Doctoral Executive Format program in adult and community college education. His research looks at individual and organizational performance in education and work settings. The research examines teaching, research, and leadership for the purpose of improving individual and organizational performance. Specifically it examines counterproductive workplace behaviors, faculty productivity, technology in education, and quantitative research methods. He has published over 100 refereed journal articles, book chapters, and proceedings and presents regularly at national and international conferences. He has served as the editor of the Journal of Career and Technical Education, served as the chair of the editorial board for the Career and Technical Education Research (formally, the Journal of Vocational Education Research). He is currently the co-program chair the AERA Workplace Learning SIG and the Workplace Learning SIG Chair elect.
