Assistant Professor or above in Workforce Leadership/Human Resource Education (2 positions)

The Department of Leadership, Foundations and Human Resource Education in the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Louisville seeks an outstanding scholar in Workforce Leadership/Human Resource Education. We seek candidates who have strong skills in research, skills in program development, experience in delivery of courses using online learning technology, the ability to work successfully with the business and education communities on issues related to workforce development, success in obtaining grants, and the ability to mentor doctoral students through the completion of dissertations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Tenure-track faculty members are expected to teach, be actively engaged in research, be involved in their field nationally, and to perform service activities within their field of study. Appointments are for ten-month periods with the possibility of optional summer employment. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, advising, conducting research, seeking grant funding, working with organizations, participating in ongoing program development, mentoring doctoral students through the completion of dissertations, and providing service to the college, university, professional associations and discipline-related community partners.

Senior level applicants would be considered for program leadership roles. Funding has been approved for one position; the second will be filled if resources are available.

We seek individuals with research interests in human resource development and/or workforce development.  Successful applicants should have teaching and/or research interests in one of the following areas:

Instructional Design and E-learning in Workplaces (Posting #25415)
Performance Improvement, Organizational Development and Evaluation (Posting #25416)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in a field related to the position (outstanding ABDs considered, if completing degree by August 2010)
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with colleagues
  • Demonstrated interest and experience in working in partnership with community groups, companies, schools, government agencies, and other key stakeholders as appropriate to the position(s)
  • Evidence of successful partnership experiences in diverse settings
  • Demonstrated successful in-classroom teaching experience in higher education
  • Demonstrated successful online teaching experience (preferred)
  • Evidence of a focus on research-based practice
  • Demonstrated excellence in scholarly research
  • Demonstrated successful history of grant writing and grant-funded research (preferred)
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and students from multicultural communities and backgrounds

PROGRAM, DEPARTMENT, COLLEGE, AND UNIVERSITY:
The Department of Leadership, Foundations and Human Resource Education currently includes 22 FTE faculty members and offers an array of programs leading to Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degrees in the areas of educational administration, evaluation, higher education, human resource education, and workforce leadership. 

The department has exciting and growing programs in Workforce Leadership and Human Resource Education with over 450 students at the Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral levels. The B.S. in Workforce Leadership program offers credit for previous learning and provides fully online and face-to-face options at several locations in the Louisville area.  The M.S. in Human Resource Education program is offered fully online and face-to-face.  The Human Resource Development doctoral program is a specialization within the department’s Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Organizational Development.  Our program is extensively engaged with partners such as the U.S. Army, General Electric, health care organizations, and state and local government.  Our department is also the home of the National Research Center for Career and Technical Education, funded through a major grant from the U.S. Department of Education to conduct research, professional development, and technical assistance concerning education and training for work.

SALARY: Competitive, based upon qualifications and experience

Assistant Director, Course Design, Delivery and Assessment

This position leads a team of instructional designers and technologists, and academic media specialists to develop and present faculty workshops and tools in support of instructional excellence, regardless of course format. This role assists in building and sustaining the university’s reputation as a renowned teaching university by contributing to excellence in teaching and effective learning. This position also supports the continuous evaluation of student learning through consultation with faculty various governance groups.

This position has first-line responsibility for maintaining and operating a technology-based teaching enhancement center which provides faculty development, training, and research in the application of technology in instruction, the demonstration of current and emerging technologies, as well as, the development and implementation of curricular innovations using technology.

Advanced degree- Masters Degree in instructional technology, adult education, or higher education-related discipline required, Ph.D. or Ed.D. in higher education administration, instructional design, adult learning, or assessment strongly preferred.
